Job summary

Kuehne+Nagel is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable data pipelines and models that enable analytics and reporting across global operations. You will collaborate with analysts, product owners, and engineers to deliver high-quality data solutions while following best practices.

You will lead technical implementations, mentor engineers, and contribute to DevOps culture with IaC awareness. The role offers flexible hours and remote-work options in Portugal.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years in data engineering.
• Strong SQL and data modeling skills (Snowflake preferred).
• Hands-on experience with dbt, Git/GitLab, CI/CD, and data orchestration platforms.
• Proficiency in Python; other languages a plus.
• Proven track record of leading technical implementations and mentoring engineers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with clear English communication.
• Experience translating business requirements into technical solutions; familiarity with IaC is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance scalable data pipelines and transformations, including modernization of legacy processes.
• Build and maintain data models for reporting, analytics, and insights.
• Apply data engineering best practices: coding standards, testing, documentation, version control, and CI/CD.
• Develop and maintain data orchestration workflows for reliable processing.
• Collaborate with analysts, product owners, and engineers to deliver data solutions.
• Monitor data quality, troubleshoot issues, and drive platform reliability and performance.
• Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and team discussions.
