We are looking for a QA Engineer to join an international technology project based in Porto. The role sits within a quality-focused environment where the QA Engineer will work across functional and automated testing, using scripting to support test execution and automation.
The project uses internal technologies and tooling, so we are looking for a solid QA profile with strong testing fundamentals, scripting experience and the ability to adapt quickly to new technical environments.
Responsibilities
- Analyse business and technical requirements, user stories and specifications from a QA perspective.
- Design, document and execute test cases covering functional, integration, regression and system testing.
- Identify testing scenarios, edge cases and potential quality risks.
- Develop and maintain automated tests and test scripts using Python or another scripting/programming language.
- Use scripting to automate repetitive testing activities, data validation and test execution.
- Execute manual and automated test suites and analyse the results.
- Identify, document and follow up defects, providing clear reproduction steps and relevant evidence.
- Maintain and continuously improve regression test suites and automation coverage.
- Collaborate closely with Developers, Product Owners, Business Analysts and other QA Engineers throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to QA planning and estimation.
- Adapt to internal tools, frameworks and technologies used by the project.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, test coverage and automation practices.
- Work effectively with distributed teams in an international environment.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional experience in Software Quality Assurance / Software Testing.
- Solid understanding of software testing fundamentals, including test design, functional testing, regression testing and defect management.
- Professional experience with test automation and/or scripting.
- Good knowledge of Python scripting. Experience with another programming/scripting language is also considered.
- Ability to understand and work with unfamiliar technologies and internal frameworks.
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments.
- Experience with defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira or equivalent.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to understand technical requirements and translate them into effective test scenarios.
- Fluent English and Portuguese.
- Availability to work 3 days per week onsite in Porto (Boavista) — mandatory and non-negotiable.
- Comfortable working in an international, multicultural and distributed environment.
Important: The specific technology stack is not a deciding factor for this position. Candidates coming from different technical backgrounds are welcome, provided they have strong QA fundamentals, scripting/programming experience and the ability to learn new technologies quickly.
