Job summary

Aubay Portugal in Porto is seeking an experienced BI/Analytics professional to design and maintain Power BI dashboards, data models, and reports. You will optimize SQL queries, implement advanced DAX calculations, and ensure robust data solutions across the Microsoft BI stack.

You will work in a hybrid model, collaborating with cross-functional teams, refining data architectures, and guiding junior developers. Proficiency in English is mandatory, with French as a valuable asset.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in BI, data analytics, or data engineering with Microsoft BI stack.
• Expertise in writing and tuning complex SQL, including CTEs and joins.
• Strong DAX knowledge for time intelligence and filtering contexts.
• Fluent English; French is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain enterprise Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models.
• Write and optimize highly complex SQL queries to extract data from various sources.
• Design historical data extraction queries using dynamic date parameters and time-series logic.
• Create and optimize advanced DAX calculations for business logic.
• Troubleshoot dashboard performance, refresh times, and underlying SQL queries.
• Provide technical guidance, conduct code reviews, and mentor junior/mid-level developers (N4).

What will you do?

• Design, build, and maintain enterprise-level Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models that meet business requirements;
• Write and optimize highly complex SQL queries (e.g., advanced SELECTs, subqueries, complex JOINs) to extract data from various source systems;
• Design and adapt SQL queries specifically tailored to retrieve historical datasets, utilizing dynamic date filters and time-series logic;
• Author, optimize, and maintain advanced DAX calculations, leveraging complex time intelligence and filter context manipulation;
• Troubleshoot and optimize Power BI reports, dashboard refresh times, and underlying SQL queries to guarantee an optimal end-user experience;
• Provide technical guidance, conduct code reviews, and promote best practices to junior and mid-level developers within the team (N4 Level).

What are we looking for?

• A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, or Data Analytics, with a strong focus on the Microsoft BI Stack;
• Advanced SQL mastery, including proven ability to write, debug, and fine-tune complex SQL queries utilizing subqueries, CTEs, JOINs, UNIONs, and aggregation functions;
• Demonstrated experience in adapting queries for historical data extraction using dynamic date parameters and injecting parameters directly into custom SQL queries;
• Deep expertise in creating both foundational and highly complex DAX formulas to support advanced business logic;
• Strong understanding of the Power BI Ecosystem, including Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, gateway configurations, row-level security (RLS), and workspace administration;
• Proficiency in English is mandatory; French language skills are considered a strong asset;
