A research institute in Portugal invites applications for a postdoctoral position focusing on theoretical studies of jet quenching. The successful candidate will work on QCD jet evolution, requiring a PhD in theoretical high-energy or nuclear physics. This 2-year position is renewable and offers a collaborative research environment. Interested candidates should apply with their CV, cover letter, and other materials by December 17th, 2025.
The Phenomenology Group at LIP (Lisbon) invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in theoretical and phenomenological studies of jet quenching in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions. The selected candidate will work closely with Liliana Apolinário on an ongoing effort to establish a space‑time–resolved description of QCD jet evolution in the Quark‑Gluon Plasma (QGP).
2‑year position (post‑doctoral salary), renewable after the first year.
September or October 2026
Candidates must have (or be about to obtain) a PhD in theoretical high‑energy or nuclear physics by the start date. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
LIP is the national institute for particle physics in Portugal, with strong involvement in CERN experiments and theory‑experiment interaction. The Phenomenology Group in Lisbon conducts forefront research in QCD, heavy‑ion physics, and jet evolution, offering an international and collaborative environment supported by computational resources and close links to major experimental collaborations.
All the materials below should be submitted by December 17th, 2025:
Please send all application materials to: liliana@lip.pt.
