Bial is seeking a highly qualified pharmacology researcher for a 12-month temporary position in Porto. The role focuses on translational research for rare diseases, supporting gene therapy and antisense modalities through in vivo and ex vivo studies.

The successful candidate will contribute to biomarker discovery, pharmacodynamic analyses, and a rigorous evaluation of new technologies, while maintaining quality and compliance in all laboratory activities.

Qualificações

  • Ph.D. required in pharmacology or related sciences.
  • FELASA accreditation or EU Function A certification.
  • Experience in surgical techniques in laboratory animals.
  • Experience with bioanalytical or electrophysiology methods.
  • Strong experimental design and statistics background.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proactive and flexible approach to research plans.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).

Responsabilidades

  • Support the development and implementation of novel laboratory techniques for translational research and biomarker discovery.
  • Design, execute, analyze, and report in vivo and ex vivo studies for gene therapy and related programs.
  • Characterize pharmacodynamic and translational biomarkers in rare disease programs.
  • Perform laboratory tasks accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with quality standards.
  • Assist senior researchers with evaluation of new technologies and disease models.

Integrated into the Rare Diseases & New Modalities group, the selected candidate will support the discovery and development of innovative therapeutics, including gene therapies, antisense oligonucleotides, and other emerging modalities, contributing to the advancement of transformative treatments for patients with rare and severe diseases.

The Impact You'll Make
  • Support the development and implementation of novel laboratory techniques to address key scientific questions in translational research, experimental disease models, biomarker discovery, and evaluation of advanced therapeutic modalities;
  • Design, execute, analyze, and report in vivo and ex vivo studies supporting gene therapy, ASO, and other next-generation drug discovery and development programs;
  • Contribute to the characterization of pharmacodynamic, efficacy, safety, and translational biomarkers relevant to rare disease programs;
  • Perform assigned laboratory and study-related activities accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable quality standards;
  • Assist the team in strategic research activities, including evaluation of new technologies, disease models, and therapeutic approaches.
What You'll Bring
  • Ph.D. in pharmacology or related sciences;
  • Accreditation to carry out procedures on laboratory animals (FELASA, EU Function A);
  • Experience in surgical techniques in laboratory animals;
  • Experience of bioanalytical or electrophysiology methods;
  • Strong background in experimental design and statistics;
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills;
  • Strong organizational and management skills, responsibility and flexibility;
  • Exceptional proactivity to anticipate and meet the needs of the research plans;
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
This is a 12-month temporary position.
