Bial in Portugal is seeking a highly motivated PhD-level scientist to join the Rare Diseases & New Modalities group for a 12-month temporary position. You will support discovery and development of innovative therapeutics, including gene therapies and ASOs, contributing to transformative treatments for patients with rare diseases.

Qualificações

  • Ph.D. in pharmacology or related sciences.
  • Accreditation to carry out procedures on laboratory animals (FELASA, EU Function A).
  • Experience in surgical techniques in laboratory animals.
  • Experience of bioanalytical or electrophysiology methods.
  • Strong background in experimental design and statistics.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong organizational and management skills, responsibility and flexibility.
  • Exceptional proactivity to anticipate and meet the needs of the research plans.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).

Responsabilidades

  • Support the development and implementation of novel laboratory techniques to address key scientific questions in translational research, experimental disease models, biomarker discovery, and evaluation of advanced therapeutic modalities.
  • Design, execute, analyze, and report in vivo and ex vivo studies supporting gene therapy, ASO, and other next-generation drug discovery and development programs.
  • Contribute to the characterization of pharmacodynamic, efficacy, safety, and translational biomarkers relevant to rare disease programs.
  • Perform assigned laboratory and study-related activities accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable quality standards.
  • Assist the team in strategic research activities, including evaluation of new technologies, disease models, and therapeutic approaches.

Integrated into the Rare Diseases & New Modalities group, the selected candidate will support the discovery and development of innovative therapeutics, including gene therapies, antisense oligonucleotides, and other emerging modalities, contributing to the advancement of transformative treatments for patients with rare and severe diseases.

The Impact You’ll Make

  • Support the development and implementation of novel laboratory techniques to address key scientific questions in translational research, experimental disease models, biomarker discovery, and evaluation of advanced therapeutic modalities;
  • Design, execute, analyze, and report in vivo and ex vivo studies supporting gene therapy, ASO, and other next-generation drug discovery and development programs;
