Job summary

JobCenter is seeking a detail-oriented Part-Time Library Assistant for Almada Library in Almada, Portugal. You will help shelve books, check in and out materials, and assist patrons with locating items.

This role is ideal for someone without library experience to learn on the job. It requires a high school diploma, a biometric passport, and strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Flexibility for evenings and weekends is necessary.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid biometric passport.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous library experience is preferred but not required.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Shelving books and maintaining the organization of the library shelves.
• Checking in and out materials using the library's computer system.
• Assisting patrons with locating books and other materials.
• Answering basic reference questions and directing more complex inquiries to a librarian.
• Processing new library card applications.
• Maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the library space.
• Providing excellent customer service to all library patrons.
