A call for applications for 1 Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship is open at Nova School of Business and Economics (NOVA SBE) under the Project “Women in Leadership Lab”, funded by Nova School of Business & Economics with the following conditions:
MAIN FIELD: Leadership, Organizational Behavior, Human Resources or related fields
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS: The successful candidate will have a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in a related field, completed by the start date of the posting. Relevant research background includes knowledge of the academic literature and theory in organizational behaviour and strong quantitative research skills including online experimental design and analysis. Must demonstrate strong writing skills.
WORK PLAN: The Leadership for Impact Knowledge Center at NOVA School of Business and Economics is seeking a Post-Doctoral Researcher to advance its research mission. The Center wants to invest in research that can shape policies and decision-making around Female Leadership and to advance women’s careers and organizations for the future. This research project will promote understanding of current and future challenges concerning female leadership, and build knowledge that prepares organizations to be more inclusive. To do so, it will also produce insights for mid- and long-term business solutions, as well as for public decision-making.
This position will capture trends, challenges, best-practices and insights concerning women''s interest and engagement in leadership at organizational, national, and international levels.
This position requires full-time work in research activities, with opportunities to co-author publications and present the research created to collaboration partners and at leading conferences. More specifically, the Post-Doctoral Researcher will support research to deliver a variety of outputs ranging from: diagnostic of female leadership in the tourism sector, experimental research studies on leadership motivation and mentorship, (teaching) case studies from different industries, and presentations at conferences and events to share research findings.
The remaining 50% of their time offers an exciting opportunity for the Post-Doctoral Researcher to design and lead their own research project. This project should align with the research agenda of the Nova SBE Leadership for Impact Knowledge Center and the thematic preferences of this call. The researcher will have the freedom to shape the project according to their expertise and interests, while benefiting from close supervision and guidance. The proposal should include clear milestones to ensure progress toward publication in a top academic journal.
The candidate will closely collaborate with Professor Jenny M. Hoobler, the Academic Director of the project.
Research Fellowship Holder Statute (“Estatuto do Bolseiro de Investigação Científica”), approved by Law n.º 40/2004, of 18th August, subsequently amended and republished by Decree-Law n.º 202/2012, of 27th August, updated in accordance with Decree-Law n.º 233/2012, of 29th October, Law n.º 12/2013, of 29th January, and with Decree-Law n.º 89/2013, of 9th July, updated in accordance with Decree-Law n.º 123/2019, of 28th August. NOVA University Lisbon Research Grants Regulations - Order no. 9484/2023, of September 14 and FCT, I.P. Scholarships and Grants Regulations, approved by Regulation 950/2019, of December 16.
The research will be conducted at Nova School of Business & Economics, under the scientific supervision of Professor Jenny Hoobler.
The fellowship will have a duration of 12 months, with the possibility of renewal for the length of the project, subject to an annual review. The fellowship will be awarded on an exclusive basis, as stated in Regulations for Nova SBE Scholarships and/or Regulations for Studentships and Fellowships of FCT, I.P.
The fellowship amounts to 1.851€ to € 3.000 according to the experience of candidate and the table of monthly stipends available in the Regulations for Nova SBE Scholarships.
The selection will be based upon the evaluation of general curriculum vitae/academic merit (30%), conveyed and demonstrated experience with OB research including experimental design and analysis (50%), and fit with position as evidenced in the interview (20%).
