Night Auditor M/F/X
As a Night Auditor you are a true ambassador of the Victoria experience: with a strong service mindset, excellent interpersonal skills, and true versatility, you help transform every stay into a unique and unforgettable memory.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Ensure that all service standards and operational procedures are adhered to in all interactions with guests and colleagues.
- Provide prompt, attentive service directly to guests or colleagues, using guests’ names.
- Master front office and royal service policies, procedures, and operations; use training and knowledge to maintain accuracy.
- Review reservations and guest preferences to ensure standards are met.
- Maintain a perpetual presence at the reception desk during the shift.
- Follow the hotel’s telephone etiquette standards for internal and external calls.
- Observe and respond to guests approaching the reception desk.
- Enthusiastically promote hotel services, providing detailed information to guests and visitors.
- Identify guest preferences, act on them, and update colleagues on guest profiles.
- Anticipate guest needs and requests, actively engaging guests.
- Balance and audit front office postings and settlements.
- Verify all departments have posted revenues.
- Reconcile the hotel’s food and beverage POS with the PMS, recording and adjusting entries as needed.
- Reconcile all miscellaneous revenue sources to the PMS (telephone, garage, movies, laundry, etc.).
- Confirm room revenue and applicable taxes are recorded.
- Reconcile accounts receivable balance against the guest ledger for the current day.
- Prepare daily management reports as directed by management.
- Update front office system per established guidelines.
- Prepare the cash "Deposit per Audit" report and reconcile net cash.
- Complete system backups as required.
- Review front desk rebate allowances to verify approvals and prepare daily operations package for the GM and Financial Controller.
- Organize night audit work for the Income Auditor; report any issues daily.
- Maintain professionalism reflecting Fairmont standards.
- Work safely, prudently, and in an organized manner.
- Work a flexible schedule to fulfill responsibilities.
- Complete audits promptly to avoid hindering the next business day.
- Follow all local and corporate policies related to Night Audit.
Qualifications
- Proficient in English (spoken & written).
- Capable of handling multiple tasks in an intense, changing environment while staying calm.
- Flexible with 24‑hour, 7‑day operations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and guest interpersonal skills.
- Self‑motivated, organized, and able to take initiative.
- Prior experience in hotels or customer service is an asset.
- Ability to handle cash accurately.
- Professional appearance and presentation at all times.
- Computer literacy: Word, Excel, and e‑mail.
- High school diploma required; university or college degree is an asset.
- Preferred experience in a similar role.
