Job summary

Carrier Global Corporation seeks a Mechanical Engineer - Application & Sustainability in Matosinhos, Porto. You will translate customer and vehicle requirements into robust integration solutions while applying sustainability principles throughout design, validation and installation.

The role interfaces with customers, installation partners and product teams, requiring practical problem-solving, customer orientation and a commitment to cleaner transport solutions. Occasional travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in mechanical design and vehicle integration.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD and Creo preferred.
• Knowledge of sheet metal, plastics, fasteners and tolerances.
• Understanding of GD&T and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with PLM/BOM management (Windchill a plus).
• Awareness of sustainable design and lifecycle thinking.
• Ability to interpret customer specifications and layouts.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Assess customer, vehicle, trailer and refrigeration-unit requirements and translate into mechanical specs.
• Develop mechanical integration concepts for systems, including hardware positioning and interfaces.
• Create and review 3D models, 2D drawings, tolerances and installation layouts.
• Perform feasibility studies and design reviews for OEM integrations and customer applications.
• Apply DFM/DFx and sustainability principles to solutions.
• Support prototypes, installations, testing and field validation with teams.
