Job summary

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is seeking a Maintenance Team Leader for their new production plant in Viana, Portugal. You will coordinate maintenance teams, drive preventive and corrective maintenance, and ensure safety, quality and KPI targets are met.

The role requires a strong background in mechanics/electromechanics/electronics and hands-on experience with robots, test equipment, and PLCs. Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Academic Background in Mechanics, electromechanics, electronics, electrical, industrial maintenance, automation, programming, robotics or similar.
• Previous experience in a similar role is valued.
• Solid knowledge of machines (mechanics, pneumatics, electronics, electricity, test equipment).
• Interpretation of mechanical, pneumatics and electrical schematics.
• Knowledge in maintenance metrics (MTTR, MTBF, Down Time, Availability).
• Problem solving methods (5W, Ishikawa, PDCA, 8D).
• Knowledge of automotive industry standards.
• Ability to plan, anticipate and organize; situational adaptability.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate team activities, assign tasks and maintenance objectives.
• Lead, motivate and develop team; train new members on safety, rules and preventive/corrective maintenance.
• Monitor maintenance work by team and external entities when needed.
• Facilitate communication within department and with other teams; daily meetings across shifts.
• Provide technical assistance to production equipment (mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, programming, robotics).
• Assist in the reception of new equipment (validation, installation, start-up).
• Diagnose defect causes and implement corrective actions; participate in problem solving.
• Comply with environmental, health and safety, quality and productivity standards.
