Lisbon, Portugal | Full-time | Permanent position at SWJ
You keep the supply chain running
What happens when a car manufacturing plant runs out of the right reusable containers? A minor stock issue can quickly turn into a real supply problem.
This is exactly where you come in.
As a Logistics Dispatcher – Returnable Packaging, you’ll manage the operational supply of returnable containers for the automotive industry. Based at our Lisbon site, you’ll work within our customer-specific, SAP-based systems, monitoring stock levels, requirements and ongoing transport operations for four XDock sites.
Much of the dispatching is automated. Your strength therefore lies not in processing as many orders as possible manually, but in recognising when something isn’t going to plan, assessing the situation correctly and taking decisive action.
You are therefore a vital part of our client’s operational supply chain.
Your responsibilities
- You monitor the daily availability of returnable containers and the incoming requirements from affiliated suppliers and plants.
- You review the automatically generated planning proposals, adjust them where necessary, and approve them in accordance with the defined processes.
- You manage the operational planning of returnable containers for four XDock sites.
- You identify deviations, impending bottlenecks and delayed deliveries at an early stage and initiate the necessary measures.
- You consistently follow up on outstanding bottlenecks and disruptions until a solution is found.
- Where necessary, you coordinate special measures such as ad hoc deliveries or stock reallocations.
- You check orders and system data for plausibility and ensure that relevant information is accurate and complete.
- You will handle special and clearing cases and provide the necessary information to resolve them.
- You will actively communicate critical situations and elevate them if an independent solution is not possible.
- You will work closely with your supervisor or team leader, particularly in complex or particularly critical situations.
What you’ll need
- A completed qualification in logistics, freight forwarding, industry or a comparable field.
- Ideally, 1–3 years’ professional experience in operational logistics, scheduling, supply chain management or a comparable environment.
- Experience of working in a system-supported environment and a keen interest in working with data and digital processes.
- Analytical thinking: You can identify potential problems by analysing stock levels, demand and discrepancies.
- Process discipline: You can implement defined rules and processes consistently and reliably – even when things need to be done quickly.
- Ability to prioritise: You can distinguish between discrepancies that can be resolved at an operational level and those that may have an impact on the supply chain.
- Initiative and a sense of responsibility: You do not wait for someone else to spot a problem.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to assert yourself.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Experience with SAP or comparable ERP/logistics systems is an advantage.
- Very good written and spoken English is essential.
- Good German language skills are a definite plus due to our collaboration with our German client.
