Laboratory Technician – Quality Laboratory

Join Hempel’s Quality Laboratory in Portugal (Palmela) as a Laboratory Technician. In this role you will assist in paint quality control, problem resolution, and conduct all necessary tests and reports to present customers with a high‑quality product.

Responsibilities

• Conduct quality control tests on paint samples during and after the production process.
• Proceed with batch adjustment to fit characteristics within specification.
• Perform raw material analysis and COA evaluation.
• Develop formulas for production and MTT system.
• Follow up lab and production trials for quality improvements.
• Evaluate complaints and present final reports.
• Prepare experimental paints and test specimens.
• Keep lab equipment database updated and conduct internal calibration verification when needed.
• Evaluate current and experimental coating systems according to agreed methods, standards, and customer specifications.
• Maintain accurate and complete records and produce quality reports of laboratory activity.
• Ensure maintenance, safety, and tidiness of equipment used in Q‑LAB.

Qualifications

• Education as laboratory technician or equivalent studies.
• Strong hands‑on and quality orientation in the laboratory.
• Ability to plan and organize tasks.
• Previous experience working in a coating laboratory is an advantage.
• Ability to communicate and write in English is preferable.
• Computer skills.
• Team‑oriented.
