We are seeking a highly organized, proactive, and collaborative full‑time Lab Technician to oversee day‑to‑day lab operations, maintain cleanliness and organization, and provide essential support to scientists in conducting assays, including sample preparation. The ideal candidate will ensure the smooth and efficient running of the laboratory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lab Operations and Maintenance
  • Laboratory housekeeping: Wash, sterilize, and restock lab supplies (e.g., pipette tips, tubes, flasks).
  • Waste Management: Prepare and dispose of biohazard waste safely and according to protocols.
  • Facility Upkeep: Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the lab environment, including critical equipment (e.g., incubators, biosafety cabinets).
  • Calibration: Perform calibration and maintenance of equipment (e.g., probes and micropipettes).
  • External Service Management: Manage and monitor equipment maintenance and calibration with external service providers.
  • Stock Control: Manage the lab inventory and the overall ordering process.
  • Purchasing: Obtain quotes and place orders for reagents, plastics, and consumables as needed.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed inventory spreadsheets for all lab materials.
  • Reagent Preparation: Prepare reagents, aliquots, and standard solutions (e.g., 70% ethanol, bleach, FBS).
  • Assay Setup: Label and prepare containers/media for experiments.
  • Scientific Support: Directly support scientists with sample preparation and assay setup.
  • Technical Documentation: Write and update technical documents (e.g., Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Reports).
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor or Master’s degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Biomedical Sciences) or equivalent proven lab experience.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of hands‑on experience working in a molecular biology laboratory or similar scientific setting (Familiarity with BSL2 lab safety practices is a plus).
  • Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, reliability, and rigor.
  • Teamwork: Able to work independently while thriving as a member of multidisciplinary, project‑oriented teams.
  • Communication: Good communication skills with both scientific and non‑scientific staff.
  • Language: Fluency in Portuguese and English, spoken and written.
  • Experience with digital management tools for lab orders and stock control.
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
