Job summary

team.it in Porto, Portugal, is seeking a Junior Site Reliability Engineer to help ensure availability, performance, and resilience of cloud-native platforms and customer-facing services. You will work at the intersection of software engineering and operations, implementing automation, observability (metrics, logs, traces), and SLO/SLAs in collaboration with product teams.

The role requires hands-on Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk) and CI/CD pipelines

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience in SRE, systems engineering, or related roles.
• Experience in production environments with on-call support.
• Strong incident response and troubleshooting for high-availability systems.
• Proficiency with Linux and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with monitoring/logging/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk).
• Familiarity with CI/CD and IaC (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Terraform, Ansible).
• Experience with Node.js, NestJS, React, TypeScript; REST API design.

Junior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) - Is that you?

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the availability, performance, reliability, and resilience of cloud-native platforms and customer-facing services.
• Operate at the intersection of software engineering and operations, applying automation, observability, and reliability best practices.
• Set up end-to-end observability, including metrics, logs, and traces across distributed systems.
• Define, implement, and manage Service Level Objectives (SLOs), Service Level Indicators (SLIs), and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) in collaboration with product teams.
• Analyze system bottlenecks and proactively identify sources of instability.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate reliability early in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Partner with Product, Architecture, Security, and Data teams to align reliability frameworks and operational standards.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Systems Engineering, Operations, DevOps, or as a Full Stack / Software Developer.
• Experience working in production and operational environments, including on-call support.
• Strong incident response and troubleshooting capabilities in high-availability systems.
• Strong understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and production operations.
• Experience with Linux-based systems and troubleshooting.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Hands-on experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools, including Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, and Splunk.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools such as GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools including Terraform and Ansible.
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and distributed systems.
• Experience developing backend services using Node.js and NestJS.
• Experience building frontend applications using React and TypeScript.
• Experience designing and integrating REST APIs.
