Job summary

NOVA Institute for Medical Systems Biology (NIMSB) at NOVA University Lisbon invites applications for a First Stage Researcher (R1) Postdoc. The project investigates satellite DNA chromatin during differentiation and disease, requiring advanced microscopy, molecular biology, and stem cell expertise.

The position is funded under Horizon Europe and based in Lisbon with possible relocation to Oeiras. The successful candidate will lead imaging-based assays, contribute to publications, and work

Qualifications

PhD in a relevant bioscience field required.
At least 3 years of culturing human cell lines.
At least 3 years of microscopy-based assays with image quantification.
Lead author on at least one publication.
Experience with satellite repeat DNA context.

Responsibilities

Conduct multicolour microscopy experiments in live-cell and fixed samples using DNA-FISH and immunofluorescence.
Perform molecular biology techniques including transfection, immunofluorescence, Western blotting and qPCR.
Apply CRISPR/Cas9 to insert markers or reporters at specific loci.
Carry out maintenance and differentiation of embryonic stem cells.
