Job summary

The EO Lab at AIR Centre in Terceira island, Azores, Portugal invites an IT specialist to join its multidisciplinary team. You will work with satellite Earth Observation data, develop in a modern HPC/Dedicated data center, and deliver services via RESTful APIs.

You will configure Ubuntu servers, LANs, databases, object storage, containers and CI/CD pipelines, with training provided. Experience with Linux, Docker, Kubernetes and OpenStack is valued, and a 2‑year contract is offered.

Qualifications

Minimum of three years’ experience with production environments.
Minimum of one year's experience with CI/CD pipelines.
Linux, configure and maintain: Ubuntu server 20x LTS, 3+ years.
Passive security: 1+ year.
Open-source hypervisor type 2 (host): 1+ year.
Web servers: 1+ year.
Hypervisor Type 1 (bare metal) with KVM: experience welcome.
Docker containers: 2+ years.
Kubernetes experience welcome.
OpenStack experience welcome.

Responsibilities

Configure and maintain Ubuntu servers, including security (ufw, and explore more options).
Configure and maintain LAN, including setup of VLANs, access points and the physical infrastructure.
Configure and maintain SQL (MySQL and PostgreSQL + PostGIS) and NoSQL databases.
Maintain software-defined object storage (MinIO, Ceph).
Configure and maintain Docker containers and their orchestration with Kubernetes.
Configure and maintain hypervisor type 1 with KVM.
Configure and maintain open-source hypervisors type 2.
Setup webservers with NGINX.
Assist with the configuration of, and maintain, CI/CD pipelines.
Write and maintain configuration and data-handling scripts.
