Muehlhan Wind Service in Mortágua, Portugal, is seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Technician to join our Grid & Substations team on European energy projects. You will install, terminate and test fiber optic cables, reading drawings and adhering to safety and quality standards.

The role includes long-term rotation: 3 weeks on site in Germany and 2 weeks off in Portugal, offering international exposure, professional development and stability.

Qualificações

• Proven experience as a Fiber Optic Technician in telecom, energy, or infrastructure.
• Experience with fiber optic fusion splicing, termination, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and documentation.

Fiber Optic Technician – Substation & Power Infrastructure Projects

We are looking for experienced Fiber Optic Technicians to join our Grid & Substations team. This role will be responsible for supporting fiber optic installation, termination and testing activities within energy infrastructure projects across Europe.

About The Role

The Fiber Optic Technician executes fiber optic installation and maintenance activities, ensuring all work is performed according to technical specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards. Working as part of an international team, the Fiber Optic Technician supports the delivery of critical energy infrastructure projects that contribute to the expansion of renewable energy across Europe.

This position is, initially, based in Germany and operates on a rotational schedule of 3 weeks working on site followed by 2 weeks off in Portugal. This is a long‑term project offering stability, professional development, and international exposure.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform fiber optic installation and assembly activities according to project specifications.
• Install, route, fusion splice, terminate, and test fiber optic cables and associated equipment.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and project documentation.
• Conduct fiber optic testing using appropriate equipment and document test results.

Skills, Knowledge And Experience

• Proven experience as a Fiber Optic Technician in telecommunications, energy, industrial, infrastructure, or construction environments.
• Experience with fiber optic fusion splicing, termination, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and documentation.
• Familiarity with OTDR testing and other fiber optic testing equipment.
• Knowledge of fiber optic installation standards and best practices.
• Experience in substations, energy infrastructure, or high‑voltage projects is considered an advantage, but is not mandatory.
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety standards.
• Ability to work effectively in an international and multicultural environment.
• Intermediate English skills are mandatory.
• Willingness to work on a rotational basis (3 weeks in Germany / 2 weeks in Portugal).
