STRYPES is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join our team in Lisbon/Porto, Portugal. You will work on embedded Linux, real-time operating systems, and bare-metal applications across diverse projects, collaborating with Dutch-Portuguese teams in a hybrid model with offices in Lisbon and Porto.

The role covers the full software life cycle from analysis to maintenance, with a strong emphasis on code quality, documentation, and client-facing communication in English.

We are looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join our team.

We are a Dutch-Portuguese software development company, home-based in Lisbon and Porto. We focus on the development of a wide range of innovative embedded software solutions, including embedded Linux, real-time operating systems, and bare-metal applications, while also covering operating systems, board support packages and device driver development. To cover such a wide variety of challenging software development disciplines, we believe that exceptional and highly empowered employees are essential.

We work within a hybrid model, with offices based in Lisbon and Porto. We're happy to hire candidates from any city in Portugal who are available to come into the Lisbon office regularly.

Your daily responsibilities include:

• Perform any of the activities of a software development life cycle: analyze, design, develop, test, debug, profile, and maintain embedded software, potentially encompassing applications, device drivers, network stacks, board support packages, real-time operating systems, and bare-metal executives;
• Produce technical documentation as required;
• Interface with clients and partners to understand their wants and needs.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience:

• From recent graduate to mid-level;
• Academic background in Engineering or similar (Software, Electronics, Physics, Mathematics);
• Experience of C/C++, Python or other programming language used in embedded software/systems programming context;
• Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming;
• Knowledge of Unit Testing;
• Preferably with a GNU/Linux background;
• Proactive attitude, critical thinker, and problem solver;
• Motivated individual with the ability to think outside the box;
• Demonstrated professional experience in written and verbal communication in English.

Our recruitment process consists of three distinct steps, each designed to assess different aspects of a candidate's qualifications, skills, and alignment with the organization.

Stage 1 - 30-minute conversation with recruiter.

Stage 2 - 1-hour technical conversation with members of the engineering team.

Stage 3 - 1-hour conversation with Group Lead or CEO.
