Job summary

CTS Group is seeking an Electrical Engineer – Special Packages in Porto to lead the design coordination for prefabricated electrical systems, from schematics to factory production. You will coordinate with vendors, review technical data, and ensure the data center components meet redundancy standards.

The role requires a degree in Electrical Eng/ Renewable Energy, 3–16 years in heavy industrial or data center environments, and fluency in English. Portuguese language skills are advantageous.

Qualifications

• 3–16 years of experience in heavy industrial engineering, data centers, or modular power module production.

Responsibilities

• Manage design coordination and vendor integration for prefabricated modular electrical equipment.
• Review vendor drawings, data sheets, schematics, and 3D models (EPLAN, AutoCAD, Revit).
• Coordinate protection settings and calculations with related teams.
• Define technical requirements for procurement and ensure data centre redundancy standards (N+1, 2N).
• Direct FAT at regional production centers and support SAT handovers.
• Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, and NEC electrical codes.

Role Overview

The Electrical Engineer – Special Packages manages the design coordination, technical specification compliance, and vendor integration of prefabricated and modular electrical equipment. This includes power skids, e-houses, high-voltage/medium-voltage substations, and integrated automated systems, bridging the gap between engineering design models and factory production.

Key Responsibilities

• Package Management: review vendor drawings, technical data sheets, and schematics for custom, prefabricated electrical modules (e.g., EPODs, containerized switchgear).
• Electrical Design & Modeling: review and optimise single-line diagrams, schematic layouts, and 3D modular coordinate systems using EPLAN, AutoCAD, or Revit.
• System Design Support: oversee calculations for cables, short-circuits, and protection settings in coordination with the Primary/Secondary Substation Protection teams.
• Vendor & Supply Chain Liaison: define technical requirements for procurement, clear technical queries, and ensure specialised vendor packages strictly match data centre redundancy standards (N+1, 2N).
• Testing & Inspection: direct and approve Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) at regional production centres and ensure smooth handovers for Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
• Standards Compliance: guarantee that all manufactured and integrated elements comply with local and international electrical codes (IEC, IEEE, NEC).

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Renewable Energy Systems.
• 3–16 years of experience in heavy industrial engineering, mission-critical infrastructure (data centers), or modular power module production.
• Software competence in EPLAN, ETAP, or Revit BIM environments.
• Strong working familiarity with IEC 61850 protocols (automation/SCADA) and European medium/high-voltage electrical guidelines.
• Professional-level fluency in English is mandatory; professional-level proficiency in Portuguese is highly beneficial for vendor communication.
