Glanua Engenharia is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer for wastewater projects in Lisbon. You will join a multi-disciplinary team, developing electrical design solutions from concept to construction for water infrastructure.

The role requires 3+ years in a related field, expertise in LV distribution, and proficiency with AutoCAD and electrical design tools. Portuguese office-based, UK/Ireland projects possible.

Qualificações

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in water and wastewater.
• Experience with LV power distribution systems and ability to read electrical drawings.
• Ability to draft using AutoCAD and prepare electrical layouts.
• Knowledge of electrical design packages (Etap, Amtech, Dialux, Eplan) is desirable.
• Familiarity with PLC/HMI/SCADA systems and network concepts is desirable.

Responsabilidades

• Ensure HSE, environmental, sustainability and quality standards are embedded in designs.
• Collaborate with Process, Mechanical, Control & Automation, Civil and Structural teams.
• Review I/O listings, control panel schematics and electrical load calculations.
• Procure and review design packages for LV and MV works and manage 3rd party design consultants.
• Provide robust handover to site delivery teams and assist tender pricing.

The Role:

As part of our strategic growth, we are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer who will work as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team to bring water and wastewater infrastructure projects from concept stage through to Construction. In this role you will work to develop engineering design solutions to meet the Client’s needs following these through to the process commissioning stage to ensure the successful outcome of the project.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

The main duties and responsibilities of the Electrical Project Engineer are outlined as follows:

• Ensure Health, Safety, Environmental, Sustainability & Quality standards, policies and procedures are developed into all designs and design outputs.
• Work collaboratively with other engineering disciplines in Process, Mechanical, Control & Automation, Civil and Structural to ensure an optimum design solution is reached.
• Reporting to the Electrical Design Manager, design works include the compilation and review of
• M&I Listings.
• Electrical load balances, MIC load calculations.
• Generator design and sizing for back-up applications.
• Lighting and emergency lighting designs.
• Earthing and Lightning protection designs
• Review I/O of listings.
• Review of control panel drawings schematics.
• Review of specialist reports on harmonics and selection of equipment to mitigate the harmonics.
• Solar PV generation and battery storage and renewable generators for small applications.
• Procurement of packages for LV works such as Main Distribution Boards, MCC’s and control panels, automation hardware/software, starters, electrical installation works, earthing and lightning protection.
• Procurement packages for MV works such as distribution transformers, MV switchgear and specialist design services for MV works.
• Procure and manage 3rd party design consultants as required.
• For all procurement packages, provide a technical and commercial review of tender returns, ensuring tender returns align to the required standards and demonstrate value for money. Provide a recommendation to procurement.
• Provide a detailed and robust handover to site delivery teams including the closure of any design comments or construction related queries.
• With the tendering team, the team assist in the preparation and pricing of tender submissions for electrical works.
• Promote and advocate key themes from Glanua Business Strategy including a move to off-site manufacturing, improved digitalized ways of working and drive towards sustainability.
• Encourage use of innovative technology and ways of working within the team.
• Harness opportunities and mitigate risk through effective design and risk mitigation measures during the lifecycle of the design process.
• Ensure you are aware of local Asset Standards, Electrical Standards, WIMES, etc. and embed the requirements of same into respective designs.
• Keep appraised of the latest standards and technology through continuous professional development (CPD).
• Other duties as required from time to time.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

The main knowledge, skills and experience required/desirable of the Electrical Project Manager are outlined as follows:

• Relevant Electrical/Electronic Engineering Qualification.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a similar role, preferably in the water and wastewater industry.
• Experience in Electrical Engineering works including but not limited to the following:
• LV power distribution systems.
• Ability to interrogate all electrical design drawings and panel schematics.
• Ability to develop sub-contractor electrical design/work packages.
• Ability to draft. using AutoCAD, electrical layouts and standard installation details.
• Knowledge and experience in electrical design packages such as Etap, Trimble Design Products (Amtech), Dialux, Eplan, Autodesk Products is desirable.
• Knowledge and experience in PLC/HMI/SCADA systems, network architecture and development, communications protocols, etc. is desirable.
• Knowledge of Medium Voltage electrical equipment and design is desirable, but not essential.
• Ability to work under pressure to deliver project objectives.
• Ability to use your own initiative, problem solve and adjust as issues arise during project delivery.
• Excellent working knowledge of MS packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
• Strong communication skills with a high level of motivation.

The main knowledge, skills and experience required of the Electrical Design Engineer are outlined as follows:

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience, preferably in the Water & Wastewater sector.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, fluency in written and spoken English
• Excellent planning, organisational, training, teamwork, problem resolution and presentation skills
• Excellent literacy, numeric and IT skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office packages
• Full Clean European driving licence.
