The European Investment Bank (EIB) is seeking a Driver for its Pretoria representation. The role combines driving, vehicle management and light admin to support daily office operations and event activities.

The position is a 3-year fixed-term contract based in Pretoria with occasional travel within the region and to Europe or Luxembourg. This Local Agent role requires driving, vigilance, and good organizational skills, with duties spanning transport, vehicle upkeep, and light administrative

• Secondary level education completed.
• Valid driving permit Category B with a clean record.
• At least 5 years of relevant professional driving experience.
• Excellent defensive driving skills.
• Knowledge of local roads and customs.
• Basic computer use (Outlook) and mobile messaging proficiency.
• Fluent in English.

Responsabilidades

• Transport the Head of the office to meetings and appointments.
• Transport EIB employees and delegations to airports and meetings.
• Maintain vehicles and report faults; perform minor repairs if possible.
• Take vehicles for servicing and garage visits.
• Drive vehicles to car wash; keep them clean and fueled.
• Provide support for EIB events and basic office tasks as needed.
• Assist Head of Office and Office Manager with schedules when possible.
• Occasionally travel to other regions per EIB policy.

Operating Network

You will report to the Head of External Office and Office Manager.

Accountabilities

• Transport the Head of the office to the different meetings and appointments
• Transport EIB employees and delegations (local and Head office) to and from the airport and to meetings and appointments
• Maintain the vehicles - you should inform the Head of Office of any faults discerned in the vehicle and make minor repairs if possible
• Take the vehicles to the garage for servicing and repair
• Take the vehicles to the car wash to maintain them in a spotless condition
• Ensure that the vehicles are full of fuel, charged and ready to drive
• Provide support to EIB events (Europe Day, cocktails, etc.)
• Upon request, provide basic office support, including collection of office materials, delivery of letters and documents, and whatever other need regarding the messenger services at the necessary time
• Provide basic administrative support to the Head of Office and Office Manager when required and if the schedule would allow
• Driving to other regions on occasion may be required as per EIB travel policy

Qualifications

• Secondary level education
• Valid driving permit Category B and clean driving record
• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience. Previous experience as a driver, preferably for a Governmental or International Organization would be an advantage
• Excellent driving skills - defensive driving
• Valid professional driving permit (PrDP)
• Knowledge of local area - roads and customs
• Knowledge and experience in the use of basic computer and communication tools (Microsoft Outlook, smartphone, messaging)
• Excellent command of English
• Dynamism and proactivity, discretion and excellent personal presentation
• Car maintenance basic skills would be an advantage
• Professional first aid training and basic training on physical security of passengers would be an advantage
• Experience working in an international, diplomatic or multicultural environment would be an advantage

The position is open to nationals of South Africa/permanent residency. Although mainly operating from Pretoria, the successful candidate should also be prepared to travel within the region and occasionally to Europe or headquarters in Luxembourg.
