Novobanco is seeking a Data Scientist to join the Onboarding & Economic Crime Prevention team. You will analyse data to support decisions across customer lifecycle management, build insights and analytical solutions for operational and compliance needs, and partner with stakeholders to translate challenges into opportunities.

As part of our Onboarding & Economic Crime Prevention team, you will support critical activities across Customer Lifecycle Management. What You Will Be Doing

• Identify, capture, and analyse data to support business decisions and financial crime risk management.
• Lead data-driven initiatives across onboarding, KYC, and economic crime domains.
• Develop insights, reporting, and analytical solutions to enhance operational and compliance effectiveness, and customer outcomes.
• Partner with stakeholders to translate business challenges into analytical opportunities.
• Own and continuously enhance the department’s financial crime analytical module, including rules, scenario analysis, and detection models.

What You Will Need

Must haves:

• Experience 2-5 years in data science, analytics, or data-driven risk management roles.
• Strong analytical skills with experience working with large and complex datasets.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R.
• Proficiency in SQL
• Understanding descriptive analysis, correlations, hypothesis testing, and segmentation.
• Ability to communicate insights effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Good to have:

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric.
• Experience in financial crime, fraud, AML, KYC, or banking environments is highly desirable.
• A proactive mindset with the ability to lead initiatives and drive outcomes independently.
