Based in Lisbon, Russell Tobin is seeking a Data Scientist for a client-facing consultancy role. You’ll work with experienced consultants and client teams to solve complex business challenges through data, advanced analytics and machine learning.

This hands-on position blends technical data science with collaboration and client interaction, and requires travel to client sites about four days per week, with all reasonable travel and accommodation expenses covered.

The Opportunity

Based in Lisbon, you’ll work as part of a multidisciplinary consulting environment and support projects for clients across different locations. The role involves regular travel to client sites, with approximately 4 days of travel/on-site client work per week. Client locations may vary depending on the project and business requirements. All reasonable travel and accommodation expenses related to client work will be covered.

What You’ll Do

• Work with consulting teams and clients to understand complex business challenges and translate them into data-driven solutions.
• Analyse large and complex datasets to identify patterns, trends, opportunities and risks.
• Use Pythonextensively for data processing, analysis and developing data science solutions.
• Write SQL queries to extract, transform and analyse data from relational databases.
• Build, train, test and evaluate machine learning models to solve real-world business problems.
• Apply statistical, data-mining and advanced analytical techniques to generate actionable insights.
• Develop algorithms and analytical approaches to address complex or previously undefined problems.
• Translate technical findings into clear, practical recommendations for clients and business stakeholders.
• Collaborate with consultants, data engineers, analysts and client teams.
• Present complex analytical concepts and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

What We’re Looking For

• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics or another quantitative discipline.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python, particularly for data processing, analysis and data science development.
• Strong SQL skills, including writing queries and extracting data from relational databases.
• Practical Machine Learning experience, including building, training, testing and evaluating models.
• Good understanding of statistical and data-mining techniques.
• Experience working with large and complex data sets.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and develop effective solutions.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to business and non-technical stakeholders.
• A collaborative, adaptable and commercially minded approach.
• Comfortable working in a consulting and client-facing environment.
• Willingness and availability to travel regularly to client sites, approximately 4 days per week, depending on project requirements.
