As a Data Science Manager at SIXT you will own the end to end success of the machine learning products that set our prices and optimize our global fleet. You’ll lead a 4-7 person squad of Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers, shape our technical roadmap, and cultivate the next generation of engineering leaders. Your role at SIXT

• You will lead with vision, provide technical and people leadership for our Pricing & Fleet Optimization product line, ensuring we ship scalable, high performance solutions
• You will own the architecture, design serverless and microservice pipelines that handle millions of pricing requests per day, backed by ML and linear programming models
• You will grow great people, line manage 4-7 Data Scientists and MLEs
• You will shape the roadmap, translate commercial goals into measurable ML milestones; quantify opportunity cost, run A/B tests, and unlock incremental margin across business units
• You will drive engineering excellence, champion code quality, CI/CD, observability, and a strong incident response culture
• You will influence at scale, communicate complex technical trade offs in clear, non technical language and secure buy in from executive stakeholders

Your Skills Matter

• Enterprise Innovation: You have 6+ years building and shipping AI/ML products for large enterprises—ideally in pricing, revenue management, or supply chain optimization
• Leadership Excellence: You have 4+ years of engineering management experience, including mentoring ICs
• Technical Depth: You have deep expertise in machine learning, linear programming, and optimization techniques
• Engineering Mastery: You have hands on mastery of Python (NumPy, Pandas/Polars, Dask, TensorFlow/Keras/PyTorch); and proven experience with serverless architectures (e.g. AWS Lambda, GCP Cloud Functions), microservices, and event driven systems (e.g. Kafka, Pub/Sub)
• Agile Mindset: You are comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast moving environments with evolving requirements. Outstanding written and verbal communication and storytelling skills
• Education: You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science or related field; PhD a plus
• Nice to Have: Prior work on dynamic fleet dispatching or price optimization. Familiarity with A/B experimentation and causal inference. Contributions to open source ML or infrastructure projects
