The Role: AWS Data Engineer
Work Model: 2 days a week onsite; 3 days remote from Portugal
Eligibility: Currently living in Portugal and be legally authorized to work there
We are looking for a Data Engineer with strong AWS expertise to join our team and contribute to the design, development, and optimization of scalable cloud-based data pipelines.
In this role, you will work with large volumes of structured and unstructured data, transforming raw data from multiple sources into reliable datasets that support analytics and business decision-making.
You will collaborate closely with data engineers, analysts, and platform teams in an Agile environment, helping to build robust and scalable data platforms in the cloud.
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience designing and implementing cloud-based data pipelines.
- Strong knowledge of Python and data-related libraries such as Pandas and Boto3.
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools (Step Functions, Airflow, Prefect).
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform.
- Good understanding of data platform architecture and data governance principles.
- Agile mindset with the ability to deliver against deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
Technical Skills
- Strong experience with SQL and complex query development.
- Proven experience building data pipelines in cloud environments.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services, including:
- S3, ECS, Lambda, RDS, SNS/SQS, IAM, CloudWatch
- Experience working with structured, unstructured, or graph databases.
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong knowledge of Git-based version control systems (GitHub / GitLab).
- AWS Certification (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect or equivalent).
- Snowflake Certification (e.g., SnowPro Core).
Nice to Have
- Experience with Tableau.
- Experience with DBT Core.
What You Will Be Doing
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines in AWS to process and transform raw data from various sources (APIs, FTP, SFTP).
- Develop and optimize complex SQL queries for data transformation and analysis.
- Work with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data, including graph databases.
- Implement cloud-native data solutions using AWS services such as S3, ECS, Lambda, RDS, SNS/SQS, IAM, and CloudWatch.
- Develop data processing workflows using Python and data libraries (e.g., Pandas, Boto3).
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub and GitLab.
- Work with data orchestration tools such as Step Functions, Airflow, or Prefect.
- Apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform.
- Contribute to the design and evolution of data platform architecture and ensure alignment with data governance best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data solutions meet business and technical requirements.
