Descrição da oferta de emprego

As part of our IT team and a member of our Business Intelligence unit, you will play a pivotal role in developing the data maturity of our business and establishing a culture of data-driven commercial decision making across the organisation.

Reporting to the Commercial Finance Manager in the UK, you will build a holistic view of the context behind and commercial importance of our new and existing data solutions, and your role will focus on ensuring the underlying data is neatly stored, accurate, reliable, and readily available in the appropriate format for external analysis and reporting.

As the steward of our new data warehouse, you will also be the main source of knowledge for all data-related queries, and you will be responsible for troubleshooting any issues with our existing datasets.

There may also be opportunities to develop your skills through relevant training or professional certification where these align with your career ambitions and support business objectives.

From day 1, you will therefore be a highly-valued, core enabler of the continued growth of our business.

Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities in this role will include:
  • Reporting to the Commercial Finance Manager and attending weekly meetings with the IT team and Business Intelligence unit, providing progress updates on your live projects and helping to shape the roadmap for future projects;
  • Managing our data warehouse in BigQuery, ensuring data is stored methodically and any data challenges or inconsistencies are addressed promptly;
  • Extracting, transforming, and loading data from our software stack, including pre-packaged software and bespoke in-house platforms, into BigQuery – both for our core business and any new businesses that we acquire;
  • Writing and maintaining Python-based ETL connectors to extract data from APIs (e.g. HubSpot, Sage HR) and relational databases (e.g. MySQL) into BigQuery;
  • Building and maintaining data transformation models in dbt, including testing and documentation, to ensure trusted, analytics-ready datasets;
  • Orchestrating and monitoring ETL / transformation jobs using Dagster, including troubleshooting pipeline failures and schema drift;
  • Using Git for version control and collaborating on changes to the ETL codebase and dbt project;
  • Managing a portfolio of data visualisation solutions in Power BI, and continuously updating user guides to help stakeholders navigate these solutions effectively;
  • Developing new data visualisation solutions in Power BI at the request of various departments, liaising with key stakeholders to understand their specifications and reacting to changing priorities in line with business needs;
  • Proactively communicating with your IT colleagues to discuss any technical or system-related considerations underpinning your projects.
Qualifications & Experience
The candidate must meet the following essential criteria:

  • Prior experience with dbt or a similar data modelling / transformation tool;
  • Prior experience with a workflow orchestration tool (e.g. Dagster, Airflow);
  • Proficiency with Git or another version control system.

  • Prior experience in managing a portfolio of data products / solutions;
  • Prior experience of working with financial data;
