Job summary

Hiscox SA is seeking an Underwriting Data Analyst to turn complex data into actionable insights that guide underwriting decisions across Europe. You’ll join the Underwriting Portfolio Management team and work with senior stakeholders to shape portfolio strategy and pricing for large deals and new business opportunities.

With strong data skills, you’ll develop dashboards, analyze books of business, support reserving, and continuously improve analytics tooling.

Qualifications

• Degree in a quantitative field such as Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Engineering or similar, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in an analytical or data-focused role.
• A background in actuarial work or insurance is an advantage.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills, with the ability to think abstractly about a problem and solve it with data.
• High attention to detail, with a track record of meeting deadlines and following guidelines.
• Able to complete projects and tasks under moderate supervision.

Responsibilities

• Understand and respond to the portfolio management needs of Hiscox Europe.
• Support the pricing of large deals and new business opportunities.
• Produce profitability studies.
• Analyse books of business and recommend optimisation actions.
• Deliver analysis ranging from studies on specific books for the underwriting community to outputs that feed critical processes (such as reserving) and reporting (such as the GUR and Trilogy forums).
• Continuously improve existing dashboards and tools, making sure they stay fit for purpose and evolve with the wider organisation.
