Job Description

Cost Engineer Data Manager – Airbus Portugal SA

Responsibilities

Costing is a key enabler for Airbus to offer the most competitive aircraft for new developments, optimisations and services. As a consultant and business partner, you will bring cost awareness and actionable scenarios across the E2 E business cycle, enabling balanced decisions and supplier negotiations. Key activities include:

• Help decide corporate product and process strategies as they are formulated.
• Participate early in all new aircraft / product developments.
• Act as a key player in achieving competitive pricing agreements with cabin suppliers.
• Liaise with all levels of management in Airbus.
• Develop data management principles: define processes, capture current issues and design new solutions.
• Collect and interpret data, analyse results and provide proactive guidance.
• Define new data collection processes and report results to business stakeholders.
• Identify patterns and trends in data sets.
• Collaborate with business and management teams to establish business needs.
• Deploy and develop new data‑management practices to improve the performance of the costing teams.
• Support experts by providing methods and tools.
• Develop solutions based on data structuring to support engineering on cost awareness and predictive costing.

Requirements

• Degree level (or equivalent) in Data Analytics or a related discipline.
• Interest in data and curiosity about helping others understand what you do.
• Data analysis skills.
• Knowledge of Mathematics, Statistics, Economics.
• Computer Science skills – Python, Jupyter, SQL/SQL Server, QlikSense.
• Ability to analyse large datasets.
• Team player with an entrepreneurial mindset.
• Good communication and presentation skills at all levels.
• Strong ability to interact and influence.
• Basic experience in project management.
• Negotiation level of English.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes is a plus.
