Job summary

The Virtual Forge in Lisbon is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to join our Engineering & Data team on a hybrid basis. You will design, automate and run AWS and Azure infrastructure behind client platforms, from greenfield to production systems, reporting to the Technical Manager.

You will build and evolve cloud infrastructure with Terraform, maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps, and run containerised workloads with Docker and Kubernetes, all while embedding security and ISO-aligned

Qualifications

• Typically 5+ years in a DevOps, Cloud, SRE or Platform Engineering role.
• Production experience with AWS and Azure, core services listed in the ad.
• Strong Terraform skills and IaC experience across environments.
• Experience with AI coding assistants for infrastructure design.
• ISO27001/TISAX/Cyber Essentials familiarity and compliant infra knowledge.
• CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps and Git experience.
• Docker and container orchestration (ECS or Kubernetes) expertise.
• Proficient Linux administration and scripting (Bash/Python).
• Solid networking fundamentals and cloud security mindset.
• Excellent written and spoken English; capable of client communication.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve AWS and Azure infrastructure, IaC and console work.
• Design, implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps.
• Run containerised workloads with Docker and Kubernetes/ECS.
• Set up monitoring, logging and alerting (CloudWatch/Azure Monitor).
• Embed security from the start: IAM, encryption, secrets management.
• Ensure ISO27001/TISAX/Cyber Essentials compliance in builds.
• Focus on reliability: backups, DR, scaling, performance, post-incident reviews.
• Monitor cloud costs and identify cost-saving measures.
• Automate repetitive tasks with Bash/Python across Linux hosts.
• Write clear documentation and runbooks for clients.
