Avantor is seeking a Chemical Analyst / Onsite Specialist I to support day-to-day lab operations at the Recipharm site in Queluz de Baixo (Lisbon area). This hands-on, customer-embedded role ensures smooth workflows, regulatory compliance, and quality/safety standards in a regulated environment.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, 3–5 years in a lab or QC setting, and familiarity with lab consumables and equipment; HPLC/GC experience is a plus.

Qualificações

• High school diploma or GED required; degree in a scientific discipline preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in a laboratory, QC, or regulated environment.
• Experience in pharmaceutical or manufacturing labs is advantageous.
• Familiarity with lab consumables, utilities and equipment.
• Experience with HPLC and/or GC is a plus.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; able to work independently.

Responsabilidades

• Support daily laboratory operations at the Recipharm site in Queluz de Baixo, in line with SOPs.
• Minimize laboratory workflow interruptions through operational and technical support.
• Perform routine chemical or biological testing and support quality control activities, including sampling.
• Perform analytical testing using chromatographic techniques (e.g. HPLC and/or GC).
• Manage laboratory consumables and utilities (gas cylinders, liquids, dry ice, buffers, solvents, LN2).
• Collect, document, and organize laboratory data and observations; maintain records.
• Communicate updates and service metrics to internal teams and stakeholders.
• Support routine troubleshooting and day-to-day lab issue resolution.

The Opportunity

Executes day-to-day lab operations & support objectives at customer facilities, following a varied set of procedures, focused on minimizing laboratory workflow interruptions. Problems and issues are typically less concrete and frequently changing, and are solved by applying experience from comparable situations in the past and/or selecting solutions within known alternatives. Tasks include end-to-end management of gas cylinders and liquid tanks, dry ice, and instrument buffers, solvents and liquid nitrogen, and supporting quality control workflows by executing sampling. Collects, documents, and organizes data and observations. Communicates activity records, service level metrics and other information requiring explanation or interpretation to team members, supervisors or customers.

This is a hands‑on, customer‑embedded role focused on ensuring smooth laboratory workflows, operational continuity, and compliance with quality and safety standards in a regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support daily laboratory operations at the Recipharm site in Queluz de Baixo, in line with established SOPs
• Proactively minimize laboratory workflow interruptions through operational and technical support
• Perform routine chemical or biological testing and support quality control activities, including sampling
• Perform analytical testing using chromatographic techniques (e.G. HPLC and/or GC)
• Manage laboratory consumables and utilities, including gas cylinders, liquid tanks, dry ice, buffers, solvents, and liquid nitrogen
• Collect, document, and organize laboratory data and observations
• Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and records
• Communicate operational updates, activity records, and service metrics to internal teams and Recipharm stakeholders
• Support routine troubleshooting and resolution of day‑to‑day laboratory issues

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required;
  degree in a scientific discipline preferred
• 3-5 years of experience in a laboratory, QC, or regulated operational environment
• Experience working in pharmaceutical or manufacturing‑adjacent laboratories is an advantage
• Familiarity with laboratory consumables, utilities, and equipment
• Experience with HPLC and/or GC is a plus
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a customer‑facing, on‑site role
