The role

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing engaging, well-structured lessons, fostering a love of learning and supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional development in a multicultural environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons in Portuguese, aligned with the Primary bilingual curriculum, ensuring progression in students’ learning.
• Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that supports students’ academic, social, and emotional development.
• Assess, monitor, and record student progress, using data to inform planning and differentiated instruction.
• Support the development of critical thinking, independence, and a love of learning in all students.
• Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student progress and wellbeing.
• Collaborate with English-speaking teaching partners to ensure a cohesive bilingual experience.
• Contribute to the pastoral life of the school, promoting student wellbeing and positive behaviour.

Requirements

• A recognised teaching qualification (Habilitação Própria) with experience teaching Primary students.
• Native or near-native fluency in Portuguese and a high level of English proficiency for professional collaboration.
• Strong subject knowledge and the ability to deliver engaging, well-structured lessons within a bilingual framework.
• A commitment to student wellbeing and inclusive teaching practices.
