IQVIA is seeking a Business Intelligence Consultant to join its Portugal-based team, with a strong backend focus. You will translate business needs into robust data solutions, design ETL/ELT pipelines, and build semantic models that support analytics and AI-enabled applications.

Based in Portugal, you’ll collaborate with international colleagues, support projects for the Belgian market, and contribute to data governance and metadata initiatives while maintaining a customer-focused approach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data, Business Intelligence or a related field.
• Typically 3+ years of relevant experience in BI, data engineering, analytics engineering or a similar back-end role.
• Strong SQL, ETL/ELT and data integration skills.
• Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Informatica Cloud or SSIS.

• Translate business and data requirements into practical data integration, back-end and semantic modelling solutions.
• Design, develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines, data transformations and curated data layers.
• Build and evolve dimensional and semantic models, including relationships, hierarchies, measures and reusable business definitions.
• Help make data AI-ready through consistent terminology, metadata, governance and data lineage.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, data engineers, data scientists and front-end developers.
• Support data quality, performance optimisation and continuous improvement.
• Contribute across the project lifecycle, from requirements and design through development, testing and deployment.

At IQVIA, we’re looking for a Business Intelligence Consultant with a strong back-end focus to join our Portugal-based team.

You’ll help build robust data solutions and AI-ready semantic models that make trusted business data easier to understand, govern and use across analytics and AI-enabled applications.

Based in Portugal, you’ll be part of our Lisbon team , collaborating with international colleagues and supporting projects for the Belgian healthcare and life sciences market.

What you’ll be doing

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data, Business Intelligence or a related field.
• Typically 3+ years of relevant experience in BI, data engineering, analytics engineering or a similar back-end role.
• Strong SQL, ETL/ELT and data integration skills.
• Experience with technologies such as Snowflake, Databricks, Informatica Cloud or SSIS .
• Understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modelling and Kimball principles .
• Experience with data and semantic modelling for BI and analytics.
• Familiarity with APIs and common data exchange formats.
• Professional proficiency in English .
• A collaborative, customer-focused and solution-oriented mindset, with curiosity and a strong sense of ownership.

A plus if you have experience with

• Healthcare, pharmaceuticals or life sciences
• Power BI semantic models, Analysis Services, dbt Semantic Layer, AtScale or similar technologies
• Metadata, data catalogues, lineage, governance or knowledge graphs
• AI-related concepts such as LLMs, RAG or vector search in enterprise analytics
• Power BI, Qlik Sense or QlikView
• Cloud data architectures, Agile, version control or CI/CD
• Veeva or other life sciences platforms
