Planck Technologies in Braga is seeking a seasoned leader for our Application Security Research group. You will mentor a distributed team, shape the operating model, and drive a research roadmap aligned with product strategy.

This hybrid role requires strong written communication, hands-on security research experience, secure coding practices, and collaboration with product teams to advance application security across our software stack.

Qualificações

• 3+ years of proven experience leading teams (Team Leader/Engineering Manager/Research Manager) in a security-focused environment.
• Experience managing remote and distributed teams across locations and time zones.
• Strong knowledge of Application Security, vulnerabilities, mitigations, and secure coding practices.
• Background in Security Research, Web App Pen Testing, Secure Development, or secure code review.

Responsabilidades

• Lead, mentor, and grow a distributed team of Application Security Researchers.
• Define the team's operating model, including effort estimation, resource allocation, prioritization, and capacity planning.
• Define and track team and individual KPIs and OKRs with clear, measurable goals.
• Build and maintain the team's research roadmap aligned with security and product strategies.
• Establish asynchronous working practices with clear documentation and decisions.
• Drive continuous improvement through retrospectives and feedback loops.
• Support career development and performance reviews of team members.
• Lead research initiatives across Application Security, AI Security, and emerging tech.
• Review vulnerable code across multiple languages and ecosystems.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Developers, and other teams in Security Research.
• Design security solutions and product features to enhance application security capabilities.

What are we looking for?

• 3+ years of proven experience as a Team Leader, Engineering Manager, or Research Manager;
• Proven experience leading remote and distributed teams across different locations, cultures, and time zones;
• Strong knowledge of Application Security, including vulnerabilities, mitigations, and secure coding practices;
• Professional experience in Security Research, Web Application Penetration Testing, Secure Development, Secure Code Review, or similar areas;
• Solid programming knowledge across both interpreted and compiled languages, with the ability to independently learn new technologies;
• Experience defining and managing KPIs/OKRs, roadmaps, prioritization, and capacity planning in a research or engineering environment;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience working in asynchronous and distributed environments;
• Familiarity with software development, Agile methodologies, and project management practices;
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

Nice to Have

• Experience leading teams across multiple countries, cultures, and time zones;
• Experience in AI Security and emerging technologies;
• Experience reviewing vulnerable code across multiple programming languages and frameworks;
• Experience collaborating with Product Managers and Software Development teams on application security topics;
• Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives, people development, and career progression.

What will you do?

• Lead, mentor, and grow a distributed team of Application Security Researchers;
• Define the team's operating model, including effort estimation, resource allocation, prioritization, and capacity planning;
• Define and track team and individual KPIs and OKRs, ensuring clear and measurable goals;
• Build and maintain the team's research roadmap in alignment with broader security research and product strategies;
• Establish effective asynchronous ways of working through clear written communication, documentation, structured handoffs, and documented decision-making;
• Drive a culture of continuous improvement through retrospectives, feedback loops, and process refinement;
• Support the professional growth of team members through regular 1:1s, career planning, skills development, and performance reviews;
• Lead research initiatives across Application Security, AI Security, and emerging technologies;
• Review and analyze vulnerable code across multiple programming languages, frameworks, and ecosystems;
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Developers, and other teams across the Security Research group;
• Design and contribute to security solutions and product features that enhance application security capabilities;
• Support the continuous evolution of the team's technical expertise and research impact.
