Edge Shore Co is seeking an AI Researcher to sit at the intersection of research and delivery—investigating emerging AI techniques and turning them into secure, governable capabilities our clients can trust.

You will work closely with our Cyber Risk and Technology teams on private AI deployments, AI governance and applied machine learning, with a hybrid or fully remote setup within Portugal and a dedicated research budget.

Qualificações

• MSc or PhD in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Mathematics or related field.
• Strong foundations in machine learning, deep learning and statistics.
• Hands-on experience with Python and modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face).
• Experience with LLMs, RAG pipelines, embeddings or agentic AI architectures.
• Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and Small Language Models (SLMs).
• Ability to read, reproduce and build on academic literature.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Mathematics or a related field.
• Strong foundations in machine learning, deep learning and statistics.

Nice to Have

• Published peer-reviewed research or preprints.
• Experience with MLOps, model evaluation and observability.
• Familiarity with AI security, privacy-preserving ML or post-quantum cryptography.
• Exposure to regulated environments (GDPR, EU AI Act, ISO 42001).

Compensation

Positioning within the salary range will be determined based on objective criteria, including relevant professional and research experience, technical expertise, academic qualifications, scientific track record, and the responsibilities associated with the position.

Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Portugal and reside in Portuguese territory for the duration of their employment. Applications are welcome from qualified candidates regardless of nationality.
