Human Resources Group Portugal is recruiting for an Advanced NDT Engineer (LRUT/Guided Wave) to join an international engineering partner in Portugal. Location options include Lisbon area with office-based work and international travel.

The role requires at least 1 year of practical LRUT/GWT experience, an engineering background, and fluent professional English. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to technical inspections and reports.

Qualificações

• Engineering degree or equivalent background relevant to NDT/industry.
• 1 year of practical field experience with LRUT or Guided Wave Testing.
• Experience performing Guided Wave data acquisition/analysis is preferred.
• Fluent professional English, written and spoken.

Responsabilidades

• Execute Guided Wave / LRUT inspections.
• Prepare, configure, verify and mobilise equipment for each project.
• Conduct inspection data quality checks and analysis.
• Identify and evaluate indications per procedures and criteria.
• Support inspection plans, procedures and project documentation.
• Analyse inspection results and produce reports in English.
• Review drawings, isometrics and scope.
• Participate in training and qualification in additional NDT technologies.

ADVANCED NDT ENGINEER – GUIDED WAVE / LRUT

Location: Lisbon Metropolitan Area or other location in Portugal

Employment Type: Permanent Employment Contract

Working model: Office-based, international travel and, where applicable, remote work

The Role

The selected candidates will join a multidisciplinary engineering team and support technical projects for international clients.

About the Opportunity

A well‑established international engineering company operating in the Oil & Gas sector, with activities across five continents and projects for some of the world ́s leading industry operators, is looking for an Advanced NDT Engineer to join its growing technical team in Portugal.

The position is intended for an engineer or experienced NDT professional with practical field experience in

Long Range Ultrasonic Testing (LRUT), Guided Wave Testing (GWT) and/or related advanced ultrasonic inspection technologies.

Main Responsibilities

• Execute Guided Wave / LRUT inspections;
• Prepare, configure, verify and mobilise equipment for each project;
• Conduct inspection data quality checks and preliminary/advanced analysis;
• Identify and evaluate relevant indications in accordance with applicable procedures and acceptance criteria;
• Support the preparation of inspection plans, procedures and project‑specific technical documentation;
• Analyse inspection results and prepare professional technical inspection reports in English;
• Review drawings, isometrics, asset information and inspection scope;
• Participate in continuous technical training and qualification in additional NDT technologies;
• Travel internationally for onshore and offshore inspection campaigns.

Candidate Requirements

• Engineering degree, technical qualification or equivalent professional background relevant to NDT, Mechanical Engineering, Materials, Welding, Asset Integrity or Industrial Inspection;
• Minimum1 year of practical field experience with LRUT and/or Guided Wave Testing;
• Demonstrable experience performing Guided Wave data acquisition and/or analysis;
• Practical understanding of pipeline and piping inspection;
• Experience withRMS / corrosion mapping or related advanced ultrasonic inspection systems will be highly valued;
• Ability to workindependently with NDT equipment in industrial field environments;
• Experience preparing or contributing to technical inspection reports;
• Good understanding of industrial HSE requirements;
• Fluent professional English, both written and spoken;
• Availability for frequent international travel and rotational field assignments;
• Ability to workeffectively in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.

Highly Desirable Qualifications & Experience

Preference will be given to candidates with one or more of the following:

• LRUT / Guided Wave manufacturer‑specific training or certification;
• Experience with RMS (Rapid Motion Scanner) / automated or semi‑automated corrosion mapping systems;
• UT Level II or other relevant ISO 9712 / PCN / ASNT NDT certification;
• PAUT / TOFD experience;
• Corrosion mapping and remaining‑wall‑thickness assessment experience;
• Previous Oil & Gas, petrochemical, refinery, terminal, offshore or energy‑sector experience;
• Experience working with international Oil & Gas operators;
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, piping isometrics and technical drawings;
• Experience producing client‑ready NDT reports and technical recommendations.

Offshore & HSE Qualifications

Current offshore and HSE certifications will be considered a strong advantage, particularly:

• BOSIET / FOET with CA‑EBS;
• Offshore medical certificate (OGUK/OEUK or equivalent);
• H2S training;
• Working at Height;
• Confined Space Entry;
• First Aid / CPR;
• Other internationally recognised Oil & Gas HSE certifications.

Candidates without all of the above HSE certifications may still be considered where their Advanced NDT / Guided Wave technical experience is strong.

International travel will represent approximately 50% of the working time. Individual assignments may last between one week and one month, although most trips will typically last approximately one to two weeks.
