The Champalimaud Foundation's ABBE Platform in Lisbon is seeking a PhD-level Light Microscopy Imaging Specialist to support users from experimental planning through image acquisition and first-line analysis, with emphasis on confocal and super-resolution methods.

You will work within a vibrant imaging core, contributing to training, method development and integration of new hardware and software, while enabling researchers across neuroscience and cancer biology to reach robust imaging results.

Qualificações

• PhD in Biology, Physics, Engineering, Biophysics, or related field.
• Final-stage PhD candidates with thesis submission by 31 December 2026 may apply.
• Fluency in English is required.
• Solid hands-on experience in advanced light microscopy.

Responsabilidades

• Provide scientific consultation for imaging projects and translate biological questions into microscopy strategies.
• Train users in light microscopy through one-to-one sessions and courses.
• Provide expert support in confocal, super-resolution, deep-tissue and light-sheet imaging.
• Support imaging of living and fixed samples and advise on experimental constraints.
• First-line support for visualization, 3D reconstruction and quantitative analysis using Fiji/ImageJ and other tools.
• Perform routine instrument checks, maintenance and troubleshooting; coordinate with service engineers when needed.
• Contribute to implementation and optimization of new imaging technologies and workflows.
• Contribute to ABBE microscopy and image-analysis courses, documentation and SOPs.
• Coordinate with other institutional platforms for integrated workflows.
• Support external-access and national/international collaborations.
