We are looking for an experienced Settlements professional to join our global Credit Operations team. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise in asset settlements (predominantly loans and bonds) across UK, European and US markets with strong stakeholder management skills. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless settlement processes by working closely with our Trading Desk, Portfolio Managers, core Operations teams and external service providers. This exciting role will suit a detail-oriented individual, focused on delivering operational excellence in a fast-paced, international environment.

Summary of our opportunity

This senior role oversees the Settlements function for ICG’s liquid traded products, with responsibility for end-to-end trade settlement, partnering with our third-party providers across a dynamic portfolio. The position acts as the primary interface between the Trading team, Operations teams and a key third-party Middle Office provider, ensuring timely, accurate and risk-controlled processing of all trade settlements and loan closings. You will lead process improvement initiatives, resolve complex settlement issues, and ensure compliance with market conventions and regulatory standards. The role supports trading activity across ICG's global Liquid Credit business, including Europe, the UK, the US and Australia.

Primary responsibilities for this role include (but are not limited to):
  • Provide leadership and oversight of the settlements process for all Liquid Credit trades (predominantly loans and bonds), ensuring accurate trade capture, affirmation, and settlement.
  • Act as the main point of contact for the third-party Middle Office provider, overseeing their performance in trade settlements, loan closings and operational activities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the Trading team, Operations team and other stakeholders to ensure seamless information flow and proactive issue resolution.
  • Oversee and review settlement workflows, ensuring compliance with internal policies, market conventions, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the resolution of complex or escalated settlement issues, breaks, and exceptions, collaborating closely across the business and with external providers and counterparties.
  • Work with key partners to ensure all loan closing and settlement documentation complies with LMA and LSTA standards.
  • Oversee reconciliations of positions, cash and collateral, as may be required, ensuring prompt investigation and resolution of discrepancies.
  • Manage relationships with counterparties, agents, custodians and external service providers to optimise processes and minimise risk.
  • Drive process improvement and automation initiatives for enhanced control and scalability.
  • Prepare and present MI, KPIs, and risk metrics to senior stakeholders.
  • Support audits, regulatory enquiries, and internal control testing.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff, fostering a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Key Requirements/ Qualifications
  • Essential: Degree-level education
  • Extensive experience (typically 7+ years) in Settlements or Middle Office roles within Asset Management, Investment Banking, or Loan Agency, with a focus on Liquid Credit (loans and bonds).
  • Knowledge of LMA and LSTA documentation and settlement processes.
  • Knowledge of ClearPar for loan trade lifecycle management.
  • Experience working with and overseeing third-party service providers or outsourced Middle Office models.
  • Demonstrable ability to build collaborative relationships with trading desks and other stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently at all levels.
  • Proven track record of process improvement and risk control.
  • Advanced Excel and familiarity with relevant settlement and reconciliation systems.
  • Desirable: Experience in utilising AI tools to drive process enhancement and risk mitigation.
  • Advanced knowledge of LMA and LSTA documentation and settlement processes.
  • Direct experience interacting with Trading teams in high-pressure environments.
  • Experience working across multiple time zones and cultures.
