Job summary

Autoliv seeks a VCM Manager, Steering Wheels to own cost modeling and optimization for a global product line, collaborating with Engineering, Purchasing, Product Line and Sales to drive cost-competitive decisions throughout the product lifecycle.

You will lead cost frameworks, should-cost modelling, and cross-functional governance, focusing on continuous improvement and data-driven recommendations to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in Cost Engineering, Value Engineering, Product Costing, Purchasing, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Proven expertise in should-cost modelling, greenfield costing, and product cost optimization.
• Fluent in English; automotive industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own cost modeling and cost optimization activities for a global product line.
• Develop and govern global should-cost models, cost standards, and methodologies.
• Act as the global VCM focal point for product cost competitiveness.
• Perform greenfield cost calculations for core and standard components.
• Support New Order Intake activities with Project Purchasing and Segment Purchasing.
• Develop cost breakdowns and target costs to support sourcing decisions and supplier negotiations.
• Validate supplier quotations and maintain product-line cost benchmarks.
• Establish and lead a global product-line VCM forum to drive best-practice sharing.
• Standardize costing methodologies, master data, and governance processes across divisions.
• Coordinate cost model updates and integrate divisional best practices into global standards.
• Identify and prioritize cost reduction opportunities throughout the product lifecycle.
• Facilitate Value Engineering and Design-to-Cost initiatives with cross-functional teams.
• Translate benchmarking insights into actionable cost optimization projects.
• Present cost analyses, business cases, and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Leverage digital tools and analytics to improve cost transparency and decision-making.
• Drive continuous improvement of cost databases and costing methodologies.

In this role, you will own cost modeling and cost optimization activities for one of our global product lines (Airbag, Seatbelt, or Steering Wheel), supporting Engineering, Purchasing, Product Line and Sales in making cost-competitive business decisions throughout the product lifecycle.

If you have:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in Cost Engineering, Value Engineering, Product Costing, Purchasing, or Manufacturing Engineering
• Minimum 10 years of experience in Cost Engineering, Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE), Purchasing, Product Costing, Manufacturing Engineering.
• Proven expertise in should-cost modelling, greenfield costing, and product cost optimization.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, supplier cost structures, and sourcing support.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills in a global environment.
• Fluent in English; automotive industry experience preferred
