Job summary

WVU Medicine seeks a Tier 1 IT Support Analyst to provide first-level support for network services and infrastructure across WVUHS facilities and affiliated sites. This role communicates with Tier 2/3 analysts for escalations and represents IT onsite.

The position covers network, server, application, and security support under the Enterprise Information Systems team, with opportunities for growth and onsite teamwork across locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science or other related field OR High School Diploma or equivalent with two years of experience in networking and server platform.
• Internal employees must meet all mandatory competencies in current position to qualify for promotion within IT.

Responsibilities

• Network Support: Install and rack basic network and security appliances; monitor UPS and backup power.
• Server Architecture and Operating System Support: troubleshoot basic servers and Windows OS; support legacy servers; assist with system consolidation projects.
• Application Support: identify and report issues with applications; resolve issues with access to applications.
• Infrastructure Management: update rack layout/documents; install and manage network devices including PDUs, KVMs, security cameras, servers and databases.
• Team Building: mentor and train employees; travel to remote sites; foster teamwork and problem-solving; resolve conflicts; encourage innovative approaches.
• Technical Administration: document network/security issues; maintain network information databases; monitor problems; stay current with network tech.
• Security Support: educate customers on security; mitigate threats onsite with IRT team.
• Telecommunications Support: assist with maintenance; backup power and UPS.
