Job summary

HSBC Kraków is recruiting for a Technical Lead (Full Stack) within HSBC Global FX Services (GFS). You will lead and deliver high-volume, low-latency FX systems while collaborating with global teams across time zones in Guangzhou, Toronto and London.

The role blends hands-on engineering with setting standards, DevOps ownership, and secure-by-design delivery. The Kraków-based team works in a hybrid model, with in-office presence twice weekly; fluent English is required and financial services

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on software engineering, including substantial Java full stack delivery.
• Strong knowledge of microservices architecture, ideally with Spring Boot.
• Solid experience with server-side development in Java; Node.js, Ruby, Go are a plus.
• Strong front-end experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (Angular/React highly desirable).
• Working knowledge of databases such as MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB.
• Degree in Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience in financial services / investment banking is highly valued.
• Demonstrable strengths in problem-solving, ownership mindset, security-focused design, Agile delivery, clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of high-volume, low-latency FX systems where performance, scalability, and resiliency matter.
• Drive technical decisions on architecture, microservices patterns, API design, data storage, and front-end integration.
• Coach engineers through code reviews, pairing, and design trade-offs.
• Own end-to-end delivery in a DevOps model: development, testing, release, observability, and production support.
• Enable frequent and safe releases with daily production deployment and iterative delivery.
• Ensure production readiness through instrumentation, alerting, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with global teams in Guangzhou, Toronto, and London across time zones.
• Ensure cybersecurity controls and secure-by-design solutions.
• Act as local entity manager in Poland for Poland-based colleagues.
