Job summary

HSBC Service Delivery Polska is seeking a Technical Lead (Full Stack) in Kraków to drive high-volume FX systems within HSBC Global FX Services. You will lead design and delivery while coaching engineers and setting engineering standards.

The role requires 10+ years of hands-on software engineering, Java full stack expertise, and fluent English. It is a hybrid role in Kraków with in-office twice weekly and collaboration with global teams.

Qualifications

10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, including substantial Java full stack.
Strong knowledge of microservices architecture, ideally with Spring Boot.
Solid experience with server-side development in Java.
Experience with databases such as MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB.
Engineering/Information Systems degree or equivalent experience.
Experience in financial services / investment banking is highly valued.
Fluent English (spoken and written).

Drive architectural decisions on microservices, APIs, data storage, and front-end integration.

We're currently hiring for the role of Technical Lead (Full Stack) within HSBC Global FX Services (GFS) in Markets and Securities Services (MSS).

Your team

You'll join a technology team within CIB Technology (our investment bank), where engineering is central to how we deliver electronic trading and FX services.

The Kraków-based pod is part of a global engineering organisation (~50 people) with teams in:

APAC: China, Hong Kong
North America: Toronto

The team builds and supports applications enabling a diverse set of FX services for institutional clients, including:

FX Prime Brokerage services for the alternative fund manager industry
FX Hedging services for Asset Managers
FX order management and execution for Custodians acting on behalf of their clients

Your role (what you'll lead and deliver)

As a Technical Lead, you'll be hands-on while also setting direction and raising engineering standards across the team.

You will:

Lead the design and delivery of high-volume, low-latency FX systems where performance, scalability, and resiliency matter.
Drive technical decisions on architecture, microservices patterns, API design, data storage, and front-end integration.
Act as a coach and multiplier: support engineers through code reviews, pairing/mentoring, and pragmatic guidance on implementation and design trade-offs.
Own end-to-end delivery in a DevOps model: development, testing, release, observability, and production support.
Enable frequent and safe releases: the team releases to production daily, using agile practices and iterative delivery.
Ensure production readiness through instrumentation, alerting, incident readiness, and continuous improvement.
Partner closely with global colleagues in Guangzhou, Toronto, and London to deliver across time zones.
Ensure compliance with internal cybersecurity controls, address vulnerabilities, and build secure-by-design solutions.
Act as the local entity manager in Poland for Poland-based colleagues, performing required local entity (HSBC Service Delivery Polska) duties in line with applicable governance and regulatory expectations.

Working model:

This role is based in Kraków with an expectation to be in the office twice a week (or as advised by the local Poland entity).

What you'll need to succedd in this role:

10+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering, including substantial Java full stack delivery.
Strong knowledge of microservices architecture, ideally with Spring Boot.
Solid experience with server-side development in Java (Node.js, Ruby, Go are a plus).
Working knowledge of database technologies such as MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB.
Degree in Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience in financial services / investment banking is highly valued.

What we offer

The pay range for this role is 28,000 PLN - 33000PLN (monthly, gross).

Additional car allowance in the amount of 4,786 PLN (monthly, gross).

Variable pay is discretionary, but influenced by Group performance, business/function performance and individual performance.
