Sii Poland is seeking a technical lead for data science who will own end-to-end technical direction from framing problems to validating models. The role blends hands-on coding in Python with mentoring a team of data scientists and setting standards across platforms like Fabric, Foundry, Databricks, and Snowflake.

The successful candidate will guide platform choices, ensure reproducibility, and collaborate with AI Architects and client stakeholders to deliver impact within enterprise

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years in data science with production models and 2+ years leading or mentoring data scientists.
• Hands-on Python across the data stack (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, XGBoost).
• Strong statistical and ML foundations with rigorous validation.
• Familiarity with at least one cloud/data platform and its data science components (Azure, AWS, GCP, Snowflake, Databricks, Palantir).

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction of data science engagements: solution design, modeling approach, validation strategy, and delivery quality.
• Lead and mentor a team of data scientists with code reviews, methodology reviews, and career development.
• Stay hands-on: prototype approaches and contribute production-grade Python where it matters.
• Translate client problems into scoped, estimable data science workstreams and push back when a model is unnecessary.
• Set and enforce engineering standards for reproducibility, experiment tracking, testing, and documentation.
• Guide platform decisions across cloud/data ecosystems (Fabric, Foundry, Databricks, Snowflake, Azure/AWS/GCP).
• Collaborate with AI Architects, data engineers, and client stakeholders to align decisions with business outcomes.
• Represent the team to clients: present results, defend methodology, manage expectations.
