Job summary

Sii Poland is seeking a technical lead for data science who can steer projects end-to-end while remaining hands-on in Python. You will mentor a team of data scientists, set standards, and ensure models are production-ready across Azure, AWS, GCP, and modern platforms.

You’ll translate client problems into workable data science workstreams, defend methodologies to technical and business audiences, and collaborate with AI architects and engineers to deliver value for clients in Poland and beyond.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in data science with models shipped to production
• Minimum 2 years leading or mentoring other data scientists
• Strong Python skills across pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, XGBoost
• Familiar with at least one cloud/data platform (Azure, AWS, GCP, Snowflake, Databricks, Palantir)
• Experience delivering in client-facing or consulting contexts: scoping, estimation, risk management
• Excellent communication, able to defend methodology to technical and business audiences
• Fluent English (written and spoken) and Fluent Polish; residing in Poland

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction of data science engagements: design, modeling approach, validation, delivery quality
• Lead and mentor a team of data scientists: code reviews, methodology reviews, career development
• Stay hands-on: prototype approaches and production-grade Python where it matters
• Translate client problems into scoped, estimable data science workstreams
• Set and enforce engineering standards: reproducibility, experiment tracking, testing, documentation
• Guide platform decisions across cloud/data ecosystems (Microsoft Fabric, Foundry, Databricks, Snowflake, Azure/AWS/GCP)
• Collaborate with AI Architects, data engineers, and clients to align decisions with business timelines
• Represent the team to clients: present results, defend methodology, manage expectations
