Job description

Velixo is an award-winning provider of Excel-based reporting, planning, and automation solutions for leading cloud ERP systems, including Acumatica, Sage Intacct, and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. The headquarters is based in Montreal, Canada, with the R&D team being fully remote and distributed worldwide.

With Velixo, you can build financial, project, and other business reports in Excel with live ERP data in just a few minutes and get the answers you need.

Customers love Velixo for its user-friendliness and ease of use: we are the top-rated solution on the Acumatica marketplace and boast stellar G2 ratings as well.

Who we are looking for

As a talented technical business analyst, you will collect user stories, manage the product backlog, and write high-quality change requests. Where needed, you will contribute to and maintain detailed specifications for the product's functionality. You will be part of a brilliant, fast-paced, customer- and quality-oriented team!

You will thrive in this role if you:

  • Have a mindset for incremental success as opposed to building an "everything package" in one go
  • Love finding high-impact, low-complexity solutions to the problem at hand
  • Are a proactive communicator; you are capable of both extracting the knowledge from the team and doing your own research, as well as having a natural intuition on combining these two approaches
  • Are a self-starter who thrives without micromanagement ("a manager of one")
  • Think in terms of systems, intuitively understanding how any given change will impact the adjacent areas of the product
  • Are scrupulous and attentive to detail and leave no stone unturned when doing work
  • At the same time, you know when to apply the 80/20 rule and prioritise "done" over "perfect"
  • Have a hunch about development complexity, which helps you make better product decisions
Responsibilities
  • Collect, process, file, and prioritise key product initiatives, user stories, and individual work items
  • Ongoing communication with Software Engineers, QA, and Technical Writers. Answer their questions, conduct reviews, schedule demos, nudge for updates – anything you need to get the job done. Your job is to support the rest of the engineering team to ensure the timeliness, product fit, good scope, and quality of the solutions we deliver
  • Write high-quality, consistent and detailed specifications and change requests to guide the product development. Document functional and non-functional product requirements
    • This will be an agile and iterative activity, not a "write once" kind of job – we're updating our specifications, stories, and expected behaviours continuously in tight communication with multiple stakeholders. For example, this will occur when limitations (or a better solution) are identified during feature implementation or when we receive stakeholder feedback
  • Conduct acceptance testing of completed development work. Enter detected defects and follow-up work items into the issue tracker
Requirements
  • A STEM college/university degree
  • Analytical mindset
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Initiative and desire to improve the product you are working on
  • At least two years of experience working as a system analyst / technical business analyst
  • Excellent skills in searching and organising data from public sources – e.g., researching best practices, competition, or establishing legally determined product requirements
  • Excellent communication skills, willingness, and readiness to work in a team
  • Experience writing functional and technical documentation in English, such as specifications for necessary changes, user manuals, and test scenarios/cases
Nice-to-haves
  • In-depth knowledge (as a user or customiser) of mid-market ERP systems: Acumatica, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
  • Experience in the financial reporting industry, knowledge of accounting
  • A past deeply technical background (e.g., engineering, architecture, or QA) would greatly help you in this role
Terms
  • 100% remote environment with flexible working hours. Your schedule should still be reasonably predictable, and responsiveness in communication is a must. You should be able to provide at least 3 hours of overlap with the EST (Montreal) time zone
  • At least 35 hours/week availability, preferably full-time
  • A stable internet connection and videoconferencing capability are required, with the camera turned on
  • Benefits programme after a probation period of 3 months:
    • Medical insurance
    • Coworking/office expenses compensation
    • 25 days of paid time off
    • Retirement contribution of up to 6% of your salary
    • Annual performance-based bonus
