Job summary

Rockwell Automation in Katowice, Poland is seeking a System Test Engineer to plan, create, and execute system-level tests across multiple product families. You will build test environments, develop strategies, and troubleshoot complex issues, reporting to the Test Manager in a hybrid setup.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Control Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering with CS emphasis and at least two years of experience with control systems, PLC languages, and HMI.

Job Description

As a System Test Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, creating, and executing system-level tests for Rockwell Automation products and solutions. You will work with products throughout the development lifecycle, ensuring you thoroughly test them in realistic system environments before releasing them to customers.

The role involves building and maintaining test environments, developing test strategies and test cases, executing tests, analyzing results, and troubleshooting complex issues across multiple product families, including industrial controllers, networking, motion control, safety systems, HMI, and manufacturing software. You will work with advanced debugging technologies and gain exposure to a wide range of industrial automation solutions. Your contributions will help ensure product quality, reliability, and performance while supporting continuous improvement across engineering teams.

You will report to the Test Manager and have a hybrid schedule working in Katowice, Poland.

Your Responsibilities:

• Performs routine system testing utilizing existing test collateral and test cases. Responsible for reporting any issues identified and documenting test results for follow-up. Responsible for working with the development team to characterize any issues found.
• Develops new test collateral - mostly control system applications - and test cases in response to new product or system requirements.
• Develops knowledge and understanding of system testing practices.
• Actively seeks and improves knowledge of system test development processes.
• Evaluates, challenges, and researches possible solutions by seeking input from subject matter experts to ensure fact-based recommendations and decisions are being made during all phases of product development.
• Establishes a timeline for assigned tasks/projects and is able to track and report progress.
• Is able to utilize test tools and methods to ensure full system test coverage is attained.
• Conducts informal presentations to small groups regarding specific technical topics.

The Essentials - You Will Have:

• Bachelor's degree in Control Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with a Computer Science emphasis.
• Minimum two years' experience developing and starting up control systems - either process control or manufacturing automation.
• Knowledge of PLC programming languages like LD, SFC, FBD, ST or IL.
• Working experience with HMI.
• Experience in software development - knowledge of basic software or test development.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

• Experience with Rockwell Automation products.
• Experience with any of the popular DCS (distributed control systems).
• Knowledge of test or software development.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python.
• Knowledge of and experience in functional safety, fault tolerant designs, and safety integrated systems.
• Experience with motion/servo based controllers and drives.
