Job summary

BorgWarner is seeking a System FMEA Engineer in Kraków to lead system FMEAs for electrification products and embedded automotive systems. You will work with systems, software, hardware, test, quality and functional safety teams to identify risks and drive mitigations throughout the lifecycle.

You will mentor engineers, run cross-functional FMEA workshops, ensure traceability, and promote best practices while collaborating with global teams.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics or related field.
• Experience developing System FMEA, Design FMEA, or related risk analyses for automotive embedded systems.
• Experience with Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) is a strong asset.
• Strong understanding of systems engineering principles: requirements engineering, functional analysis, interfaces, and system architecture.
• Knowledge of FMEA methodology according to AIAG & VDA.
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher.

Responsibilities

• Lead System FMEAs for electrification products and embedded automotive systems.
• Analyze system functions, interfaces, operating modes, and dependencies to identify potential failure modes.
• Identify functional failures, failure cases, failure effects and diagnostic mechanisms at the system level.
• Ensure traceability between requirements, system functions, failure modes, FTA events, and mitigation actions.
• Collaborate with Functional Safety, Systems, Software, Hardware and Test Engineering teams to ensure alignment of risk analysis activities.
• Facilitate and moderate cross-functional FMEA workshops involving global engineering teams.
• Drive technical discussions and align on risk evaluation and mitigation strategies.
• Lead customer reviews and act as the primary interface for System FMEA-related topics.
• Promote FMEA best practices and provide coaching to engineering teams.
• Track mitigation actions and ensure timely closure of high priority risks.
• Monitor progress against project milestones and escalate risks as needed.
• Drive continuous improvement of FMEA and system risk analysis quality across projects.
• Support root cause investigations and failure analysis activities using structured methods.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and contribute to technical excellence.
