Job summary

Housecall Pro in Poland is seeking a Staff Software Engineer I on the Pod Architecture Team to help evolve our core Ruby-based application architecture. You will steer monolith evolution toward scalable, resilient designs using service extraction, sharding, and pod/cell patterns.

You’ll dive into product domains, guide technical decisions with teams, and act as a technical advisor to enable scalable solutions across our platform. Collaboration and mentoring are key to our impact.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience (Ruby on Rails, other tech).
• Experience transforming monoliths into scalable architectures.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS/Engineering.
• Strong API design and REST skills.
• Experience with performance tuning and caching.
• Experience with CI/CD practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable software to evolve core architecture.
• Evaluate approaches like service extraction and pod-based architecture.
• Partner with teams to align architecture with product goals.
• Mentor engineers and share architectural expertise.
• Review code and provide actionable guidance.
• Document decisions to enable adoption.
