Job summary
Vonage is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the Fraud Prevention platform, shaping architecture and guiding a team of engineers to process millions of events in real time. You will balance technical debt, scalability, and operational excellence while mentoring others and driving key architectural decisions.
You will work across Java/Spring Boot, AWS, Kafka, and Kubernetes with a focus on performance, reliability, and AI-enabled engineering practices in a fast-growing cloud communications
Qualifications
- Experience leading technical teams and owning architectural direction across multiple engineers or teams.
- Deep expertise designing scalable, highly available distributed event-driven systems using Java/Spring Boot, AWS, Kafka, and Kubernetes.
- Strong mentoring track record and ability to raise engineering maturity.
- Solid understanding of performance optimization, reliability, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Provide long-term architectural vision for the Fraud Prevention Platform.
- Lead design of high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems processing millions of events in real time.
- Drive performance optimization and resolve complex system-level challenges.
- Shape the technical roadmap, balancing business needs, debt, and scalability.
- Own significant architectural decisions for reliability, security, and maintainability.
