Job summary

Vonage is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Java development team, shaping the Fraud Prevention Platform with high-throughput microservices. You will contribute to building scalable, low-latency applications and continuously improve our AI-driven engineering workflows across the stack.

You will work with Java as the primary language, with Python and Golang as pluses, using Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and AWS to deploy robust, observable services.

Qualifications

• An AI-native mindset with practical experience using AI tools to improve engineering productivity, code quality, and problem-solving.
• Excellent software engineering skills in Java for backend services.
• Strong focus on testing including unit, integration, e2e, smoke, and performance tests with a customer-first mindset.
• Experience with high-throughput event-driven architectures, web services, and caching.
• Practical experience deploying code in a modern environment using Docker, Kubernetes, Helm.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and programming languages.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside fraud experts and engineers to tackle cutting-edge fraud prevention challenges.
• Build high-throughput, low-latency applications to meet fraud detection use cases.
• Create scalable microservices to support the company’s growth.
• Write efficient and scalable code in well-tested systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
• Propose scalable, maintainable, and cost-effective solutions.
• Influence the evolution of the technical stack by evaluating new technologies and shaping architecture.
• Estimate effort to develop and implement new features.
• Develop and execute effective testing strategies to ensure software quality and reliability.
• Take part in on-calls for production services.
